Room 1 Newsletter for Term 1, 2012
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome back and a special welcome to our new families. As I write this letter it is 27*C and truly feels like summer.
Welcome back also to Father Dan. We will see him often at school and around our St Anne’s community. In RE this term, we start the year with PRAYER and LENT with Ash Wednesday on 22nd February. Our school focus is the JESUS Stand.
Our learning for Term 1 revolves around IDENTITY. Rooms 1 and 2 are going to work together to discover how our different cultural backgrounds effect our daily lives and what it is that we all share which makes us Kiwi Kids. We hope to take advantage of the summer weather to have some Kiwi experiences eg beach, fishing of a bridge, barbecuing, camping, picnic in the park. In week 7, we would like to have a shared lunch when children bring food which reflects their cultural heritage. There will be more details to follow soon.
This Social Science unit will incorporate all The Arts and focus on our English genre of Recounts. If you can help us in any way with any of these activities please let us know.
This year sees a change of swimming venue so please watch the school newsletter for details of swimming this term. Kiwi Sport will also continue with Kathy Baker.
Thank you for your support and input into all aspects of your child’s school life. We really appreciate your efforts. Let us hope and pray for a sunny and “steady” Term 1.
