ROOM  1  NEWSLETTER  FOR  TERM  4,  2016.

Dear Parents/ Caregivers,

Welcome back to what is traditionally a very busy term.

Our focus for Religious Education will be SAINTS, once we complete our study of God. This will be followed by ADVENT as we lead up to the Holy Season of Christmas.

Athletics is taking place in all classes this term as well continuing with Kiwisport.

This term our school-wide focus is around immigration through Social Justice and classes will be involved with “We all have a migration story”. Hopefully, this learning will be visible to you in our music and visual art also. Please fill in as much as possible when your family tree template comes home.

In English we will be focusing our learning on our reading of Instructional texts. We will write instructions in order to make objects in Technology and Visual Art.

As is our tradition, we will attend the A&P Show in November and, as usual, we rely heavily upon parent help in order to make this possible. If you did not receive your A and P Trip letter please let me know.

At the end of term, Room 1 and 2 put on our Christmas musical for you. Thank you to all of you who put such effort into the students’ costumes which help make the musical such a great success. We will let you know more information after Show weekend.

Remember to watch Wednesday’s school newsletter as there is a lot happening this term. Also, please read and comment on our blog. stannes101.blogspot.co.nz

Thank you for all your support.

Room 1 Newsletter for Term 3

Dear Parents/ Caregivers,

Welcome back to Term 3 when, hopefully, we are heading into warmer Spring weather. I hope you all managed to take advantage of the sunny days.

The Holy Spirit and God strands are our focus in Religious Education. We celebrate St Anne’s Feast Day tomorrow.

To start the term, we will be working on the “Keeping Ourselves Safe” programme. Our topics include: I am unique; My body is my own; Dealing with unwanted touch or behaviour; Adults who help. There will be homework sheets coming home to keep you informed.

We will then move on to “Firewise” to complete learning about safety.

Our English focus is Explanation writing. Later in the term we will each be learning a poem of choice to recite individually to Room 2. More information will follow about this later as students will need to practise at home.

REMEMBER to watch the school newsletter for other upcoming events- Kapahaka Festival; School Fair.

Mrs Bridget Bruorton will continue to work with the students on The Arts and PE. Kiwisport and KiwiCan programmes also continue in Term 3.

Well done to those who have been working on Reading Eggs. You are doing so well.

If you have any questions or can add to our learning, please call in to see me. Please comment on our blog as it encourages us to keep trying-stannes101.blogspot.co.nz Notice the link to Student Blog as these photos and comments are all by the students.

Term 2 Newsletter for Room 1.

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome back everyone. I hope that you made the most of those lovely, sunny
Autumn days!

We welcome Mrs. Bruorton to St Anne‛s and to Room 1. We hope she will enjoy her
time with us each week.

Our RE focus for Term 2 is the Church strand which we will begin after a small study
of Prayer. Room 1 will be having our own Sunday to help at Church so watch the school
newsletter for dates and details.

This term, the whole school is thinking about the Past, especially the last 110 years
of life at St Anne‛s school. Room 1 and 2 will learn some songs and dances from the
past to integrate The Arts into our learning.

Our initial focus is on Early Christchurch. We will be visiting Ferrymead on 25 May.
We say a huge thank you to Ferrymead Rotary for a donation of $150 towards the
entry cost and bus. Following this trip we will follow the students‛ interests in our
learning.

Our English focus is Report writing and we hope have many experiences which will
provide us with real opportunities to write in a meaningful way. We are again judging
“The Children‛ Picture Book Awards” for 2016 and so we are busy reading all these
books. Thanks to Anne from Linwood library for helping us find them all. We will also
read so stories written long ago from Beatrix Potter and A.A. Milne.

Remember to log into our blog (stannes101.blogspot.co.nz ) to keep up with our
learning in Room 1. We love to get your comments here.
Reports are written at 6 weeks then 6 monthly but you are welcome to make an
appointment at any time.

Thank you for all your support,
Cathy French
