WELCOME TO TERM 4
ROOM
1 NEWSLETTER FOR
TERM 4, 2012.
Dear Parents/ Caregivers,
Term 4 is traditionally a busy term and this year we have much
to do in only 9 weeks. As well as our class programme, Room 1 and 2 produce a
Christmas Musical for you in the last week of term.
Our focus for Religious Education will be SAINTS, once we
complete our work on Sacrament. This will be followed by ADVENT as we lead up
to the Holy Season of Christmas.
Athletics is taking place in all classes this term as well as
Rooms 1 and 2 continuing with PMP and Kiwisport. Thanks again to the parents
and grandparents making PMP possible each week. We will also have swim week in
week 3.
This term our school-wide focus is SYSTEMS and classes will be
involved with Technology. Hopefully, later in the term, we can show you what we
have been creating. In Room 1, we will
be focusing our learning on our reading of Instructional texts. We will follow
and write instructions to make objects in Technology and Visual Art.
As is our tradition, we hope to attend the A&P Show on 15th
November and as usual we rely heavily upon parent help in order to make this
possible (not suitable for preschoolers). Thanks to the Parents and Friends for
subsidizing this trip/ bus.

Room 1 Newsletter for Term 3
Dear
Parents/ Caregivers,
Welcome
back to Term 3 when, hopefully, we are heading into warmer Spring weather.
Our focus
is on COMMUNICATION- written, spoken and visual. With the Olympics about to
begin, we will first look at the country where they are to be held to discover
some of the history and features of England. As we follow our Kiwi athletes and
others, our emphasis will be on the Olympic values that we hope to see in
evidence. By the end of the Games, I hope that we will be able to relate these
values to ourselves and write some values for us to follow at St Anne’s.
The God
strand continues in Religious Education, followed by the Church strand.
Hopefully, we will see Father Dan visiting us again.
In the
last 3 weeks of the term, we will be completing “Keeping Ourselves Safe”. Watch
the school newsletter for information on this programme.
An
exciting initiative this term is the start of PMP. Thank you to those adults
who have generously offered their time each week to make this programme
possible. I am sure that the children will be telling you all about it once we
get underway.
REMEMBER
to watch the school newsletter for other upcoming events- St Anne’s feast day,
Kapahaka Festival.
If you
have any questions or can add to our learning, please call in to see me.

WELCOME BACK TO TERM 2
Room 1 Newsletter for Term 2, 2012
Dear
Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome
back to another busy term. The weather now has a truly Autumn feel and the
warm, still days have been great. I hope you were able to get outside and enjoy
them. As we head into Winter, remember that the children are entitled to a free
flu injection to help protect us all from an outbreak of flu.
In
Religious Education, we start this term with Easter and continue on into the
HOLY SPIRIT strand.
Over the
first 2 weeks we will learn about Cybersafety focussing on some important
messages for the children when they use technology such as the internet. I will
send you the online programme that we are using at the end of our study so that
you can reinforce these important messages with your child.
Our
learning for Term 2 revolves around a school focus on SUSTAINABILITY within the
Science Learning Area. In Room 1 , we will focus on INSECTS and their important
role in our world. This in turn will see us learning how to write Information
Reports relating to Insects.
Our Arts
focus is Dance and we will be identifying Pathways
as we learn about the fable of “The Cicada and the Ant”. We will create some
interesting movements.
Our P.E.
also follows the Pathways theme.
This term we will be having Kiwi Sport every Friday, much to the children’s
delight!
THINKING
skills will be to the fore this term, with students asking and answering
questions with thought and purpose- I hope!!
Thank you
to those parents who helped out with all our activities last term, including
the interesting and delicious cultural shared lunch. We hope to have
interesting events this term but our planned Museum trip is already on hold
with the shutting of the Museum due to earthquake damage. I will have to think
again!
Please
come in if you have any questions or ideas to help with our Insects.
