Retelling of" Cass the Colour Robber"
Cass the
Colour Robber- retold by
Lola
One
day, Cass the Colour Robber saw lots of colours. He wanted all of them and so
he put them in his sack and it was all grey everywhere. He didn’t like the grey so he got his stick and zapped all the
colours in his sack. All the colours got mixed up. Then Cass the Colour Robber
let the colours out of his sack. Cass the Colour Robber liked all the rainbow
colours everywhere.
Retelling Maui Slows the Sun.
Maui
slowed the Sun
Retold by
Maia
The
sun went too fast. Maui and his brothers were plaiting flax together. They
grabbed the sun to get it. Maui hit the sun to make the sun slow. Now they went
fishing in the daytime.
Maui and
the sun-Retold by
Pela
In
the morning, Maui was eating breakfast and he said,”The sun is going too fast.”
He called his brothers to come to him
and he said, “We will slow down the sun.” They plaited flax into ropes and went
to catch the sun so they could have time to eat breakfast and go fishing. The
sun was sad but Maui and his brothers were proud. They let the sun go slowly.
Maui-Retold by Matthew
In
New Zealand, at the Maori village, the sun was going too fast. The days were
short and the nights were long. Maui said, “We need to slow down the sun.” They
made ropes with flax and hid behind the rocks. When they jumped up- ROCK AND
ROLL! Now the sun goes slowly.
Maui and
the Sun-Retold by
Ata
When
Maui was eating the sun got up from its hole. It just went too fast. When Maui
was still eating he said, “That sun goes too fast.” So he said to his brothers,
“Let’s make some ropes out of flax to catch the sun and make it go slowly.”
Then Maui hit the sun and his brothers pulled. Now the sun can go slowly. Now
they have time to do whatever they want.

Term 4 Newsletter
ROOM
1 NEWSLETTER FOR
TERM 4, 2013.
Dear Parents,
Term 4 is traditionally a busy term and this year we have much
to do in 10 weeks. As well as our class programme, Room 1 and 2 produce a
Christmas Musical for you in the last week of term.
Our focus for Religious Education will be SAINTS. This will be
followed by ADVENT as we lead up to the Holy Season of Christmas.
Athletics is taking place in all classes and our popular Kiwisport.
This term our school-wide focus is INNOVATION and classes will
be involved with Social Science. Room 1 and 2 hope to create a story blanket
based on a Maori legend. We are lucky enough to be having a visit from a
librarian who will bring some story blankets for us to examine and who will
read us some legends. Our Maori legends will also give us the opportunity to
learn about early Maori innovations as they interacted with their surroundings.
Hopefully, later in the term, we can show you what we have been creating. We
will be focusing our reading and writing on Narratives, including legends.
On the 5th
November, the school will celebrate Parihaka Day. Watch the school newsletter
for more information.
As
is our tradition, we hope to attend the A&P Show on 14th November and, as
usual, we rely heavily upon parent help in order to make this possible (not
suitable for preschoolers). Thanks to the Parents and Friends for subsidizing
this trip/ bus. Cathy French
