Retelling Maui Slows the Sun.

Maui slowed the Sun
Retold by Maia
The sun went too fast. Maui and his brothers were plaiting flax together. They grabbed the sun to get it. Maui hit the sun to make the sun slow. Now they went fishing in the daytime.

Maui and the sun-Retold by Pela
In the morning, Maui was eating breakfast and he said,”The sun is going too fast.”  He called his brothers to come to him and he said, “We will slow down the sun.” They plaited flax into ropes and went to catch the sun so they could have time to eat breakfast and go fishing. The sun was sad but Maui and his brothers were proud. They let the sun go slowly.

Maui-Retold by Matthew
In New Zealand, at the Maori village, the sun was going too fast. The days were short and the nights were long. Maui said, “We need to slow down the sun.” They made ropes with flax and hid behind the rocks. When they jumped up- ROCK AND ROLL! Now the sun goes slowly.

Maui and the Sun-Retold by Ata

When Maui was eating the sun got up from its hole. It just went too fast. When Maui was still eating he said, “That sun goes too fast.” So he said to his brothers, “Let’s make some ropes out of flax to catch the sun and make it go slowly.” Then Maui hit the sun and his brothers pulled. Now the sun can go slowly. Now they have time to do whatever they want.
